Honouring Our Aboriginal Education Officers Film

NSW AECG Inc. with Aunty Ruth Simms developed this film to recognise the importance of the Aboriginal Education Officer role and to recognise Aunty Ruth Simms’ long and ongoing service for education and Aboriginal communities within the AEO role.

This film can be shared with school staff and leadership to build understanding and better recognition of the AEO role and the challenges AEOs can face within schools.

Aboriginal Education Workforce research

The Honouring Our Aboriginal Education Officers film was developed in conjunction with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation research titled Policy and Practice: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Workforce in Australian Public Schools

On behalf of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation the NSW AECG also undertook the following research work titled Policy and Practice: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Language Teaching in Australian Public Schools

These research documents can be shared with school staff and leadership to build understanding and better recognition of the AEO role and Aboriginal Language educators and the challenges they can face within schools.
