EOI: Project Officer for Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr Culture Nests

Project Officer: Bundjalung Language and Culture Nest | 35 hours p/week

The NSW AECG is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Bundjalung community members to work on projects to progress Bundjalung language teaching and learning. The position will be based within the Bundjalung Nation at Lismore.

Suitable applicants will have:

  • IT, Communication and administrative skills
  • Suitable applicants will also have sound demonstrated knowledge of Cultural Protocols and community connections for working across the diverse Bundjalung Nation
  • Suitable applicants will have their WWWC and probity or the willingness to obtain it
  • Must identify and be acknowledged and respected as being of Aboriginal descent
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of Bundjalung Language and Culture
  • A current NSW Driver’s Licence is essential

EOI: Pirru Thangkuray Project Officer

Location: Peel network (Tamworth)

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG) is seeking expressions of interest for a Project Officer to join the Pirru Thangkuray team, with the aim to meet the Premiers Priority: to increase the proportion of Aboriginal students attaining year 12 by 50% by 2023, while maintaining their cultural identity.

Type of Employment: Full time – 35 hours per week
Annual Salary: $72,800 Gross plus Superannuation

Requirements of the position
• Aboriginality
• A paid Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check (Probity)
• Current Driver’s License
• Effective Oral and written Communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated skills to engage and work across a variety of stakeholders
• Understanding of Education and working with Aboriginal students in High School
• Able to facilitate and deliver Cultural Engagement programs.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver goal setting strategies
• Knowledge of the Aboriginal Community
• Understanding and knowledge of: community, government and non-government service providers and support programs.

The successful applicant will work across a targeted number of schools within the Tamworth, Peel Network. The Project Officer will be an employee of the NSW AECG INC. and will work in collaboration with the Pirru Thangkuray (Dream Strong) Cultural Engagement and Goal Setting Team.

Language Educator – Gomeroi Satellite Nest

Location: Tamworth and Liverpool Plains

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc (NSW AECG Inc.) is seeking expressions of interest for a Gomeroi Aboriginal Language and Culture Educator to teach students Gomeroi Language in schools across the Tamworth and Liverpool Plains area.

Requirements of the position

  • Must be Gomeroi, identified and accepted in the community.
  • Working with Children’s Clearance document, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Probity Check clearance, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Support projects to increase language teaching and learning, resource development and sharing opportunities across the Gomeroi Satellite.
  • Skills in working with children from preschool to secondary.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Willingness to develop skills in technology to support language programs.
  • Reliable and flexible with required Language duties.
  • Willingness to further develop knowledge of Gomeroi Language and culture.

The successful applicants will work closely with NSW AECG Project Officers, Local community members and knowledge holders, School Executives, and other Gomeroi Language educators to deliver language programs in schools across the Tamworth and Liverpool Plains area. Please note that you will be working in a team across a variety of schools.

Hours per week: Minimum of 3 hours per week. The days on which you will work will be negotiated with NSW AECG Inc.
