Communique - NSW AECG Association Management Committee

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group’s Association Management Committee met in Sydney on 10 October 2025.

The Association Management Committee formally endorsed the NSW Department of Education’s First Steps Strategy.

The Association Management Committee was provided updates by each of the Managers on the services provided by the NSW AECG Secretariat. The President provided an update on the staffing and financial budgeting professional learning undertaken by Managers.

The Network Support and the Policy and Strategy Teams provided an update on the initial findings of the Partnership Agreement Review. Discussion centred on the structure of the Report, timing engagement with the Department of Education and the plan to report the information back to the Local and Regional AECGs.

The Association Management Committee workshopped a newly revamped Local and Regional AECG reporting templates. The new reporting templates are intended to better align with information gathered by Local AECGs when reporting to the Regional AECG.

The Executive Support Team provided an update on the 2nd State Meeting which will be held on 14 November 2025 in Sydney. The Association Management Committee was also updated on the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) to be held on Sunday 16 to Thursday 20 November 2025 in Auckland, New Zealand.

The NSW AECG Association Management Committee will be meeting with the NSW Department of Education Executive Leadership team in early December to discuss Aboriginal Education and Training matters in NSW including the outcome of the Partnership Agreement Review and priorities for 2026.
