Communique - 2nd State Meeting for 2025
The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc held its 2nd State Meeting for 2025 on 14 November 2025 in Sydney. The Association President (Ray Ingrey) welcomed members and asked the Treasurer (Trish Daniel), to provide the Acknowledgement of Country.
The minutes from the 1st State Meeting for 2025 were presented to members and the Association President provided an update on the actions. Brief discussion occurred before the minutes were accepted by general consensus.
Delegates were provided information on the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) including final information on delegates flights, accommodation, delegate folder, immigration processes and worksheets.
The Secretariat presented the proposed 2026 – 2030 Partnership Agreement between NSW AECG & NSW TAFE. This was initially proposed in 2019 and 2020 with consultation occurring in 2021.
Yamagigu Consulting was engaged to undertake a review of the Closing the Gap initiatives within the NSW AECG. This was a requirement under the funding agreement between the NSW AECG and NSW Department of Education. Yamagigu Consulting engaged with key staff and stakeholders relevant to the Closing the Gap initiatives and identified key findings. The State Committee was presented with three recommendations for the NSW AECG to consider.
The Secretariat provided an update on the Partnership Agreement mid point review, including the background, key themes, findings and the intended structure of the report. Discussion occurred around the findings.
Ash Walker from Wagal Consulting and Ray Ingrey provided an update on the new corporate structure and constitution. The NSW AECG is required to move to another corporate structure as the organisation no longer meets the requirements of the Association Incorporated Act NSW 2009 and is an action of our Strategic Plan.
Aboriginal Education Officer and Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer positions and potential engagement with the Public Service Association was discussed. If you require further information, please contact your Regional Representative.
