Aboriginal Language & Culture Nest Educator - Gumbaynggirr

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (NSW AECG) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the role of Aboriginal Language and Culture Nest Educator. This opportunity involves participation in a 10-week Training Program designed to equip individuals with the skills necessary to deliver Aboriginal Language and Culture lessons within the Gumbaynggirr Language and Culture Nest Footprint.

The training will be facilitated by NSW AECG and will take place part-time over 10 weeks, commencing in July 2026.

Contract and Salary: The successful candidate will be employed by the NSW AECG Inc. and must be endorsed prior to interviews by the Gumbaynggirr Language Reference Group.

Community Connector - Lightning Ridge

Position Description: Community Connectors work holistically with NSW secondary students, particularly those in years 10, 11 and 12 who may be at risk of disengaging from school or not achieving their full potential. They develop student-centred plans that identify services to support students to complete their schooling. Their primary aim is to ensure students and families are “connected” to services they need and that services are actively engaged. This includes working closely with schools in relation to academic and cultural supports and helping to transform the way government services engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.  

Location: Lightning Ridge (Position will be required to work across multiple townships)

Contract and Salary: A three-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of an extension. Salary is negotiable up to $125,000 per annum based on demonstrated and proven experience. Salary excludes superannuation and other eligible allowances.

Strong Spirit Girls Leadership Mentors (5 Positions)

Position Description: The Strong Spirit Girls Leadership program supports Aboriginal students in Years 7-12 through culturally safe, strength-based mentoring focused on wellbeing, school engagement, cultural identity, leadership and post-school pathways. Mentors work closely with students, families, Community, Cultural Knowledge holders and school staff to deliver responsive programs that meet the needs of each school community.

Location: Cardiff, NSW

Contract and Salary: Salary range is $72,800-$81,900 per annum based on demonstrated and proven experience. Salary excludes superannuation and other eligible allowances.

Position Description: The NSW AECG is looking for an Administration Officer to join our team who are based in Cardiff (Newcastle). The position will require someone who has administration skills and experience to support the establishment and operation of programs and services being delivered to the Hunter and surrounding areas.

Contract and Salary: This role will be full time – 35 hours per week. A two-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of an extension.   • Position Description: The Early Childhood Community Engagement Officer (ECCEO) roles support the NSW AECG Secretariat to action NSW Aboriginal community objectives around supporting families through transition to school and to access culturally safe Early Childhood Education (ECE) centres. The ECCEOs will support the NSW AECG's Local and Regional Network to address matters of importance regarding the ECE sector. The role will be focussed on the ECE sector within their allocated regions.Within this location, the ECCEO will also work directly with families, Public Preschools, Early Childhood Centres, and relevant stakeholder organisations to support collaboration, engagement, and outcomes within the ECE sector.

    Location: Dubbo, NSW

    Contract and Salary: This new role will be full time – 35 hours per week and will be based within our NSW AECG Dubbo Office. A two-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of an extension.   • Position Description: The Aboriginal Language and Culture Nest Coordinator supports and coordinates the delivery of Aboriginal language lessons within the Language and Culture Nests, providing guidance and assistance to educators whilst working with the Reference Groups.

    Contract and Salary: This role will be full time. A one-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of an extension. Remuneration package is valued up to $81,000 per annum based on demonstrated and proven experience. Includes employers’ contribution to superannuation.

  • Position Description: The Advisor role provides high level support, advice and coordination to support the successful delivery of Aboriginal Language and Culture programs across NSW. This role provides quality professional and organisational support to the Manager, Aboriginal Languages and Cultures and with a strong focus on Aboriginal community stakeholders engagement across NSW.

  • Position Description: The primary purpose of this role will be to support, design, and facilitate programs delivered by the Student Camps team. The Project Officer will work collectively with the Student Camps team to fulfill program deliverables, whilst collaborating with Local and Regional AECG’s and Language and Culture Nest Co-Ordinator's and Internal NSW AECG programs.

  • Position Description: These 5 roles will support the objectives of the NSW AECG Secretariat through working directly with Local and Regional AECGs within the NSW AECG’s Regional Offices. These positions will also support and build the capacity of existing Local and Regional AECGs and establish/reestablish new Local and Regional AECGs as needed. A significant commitment to travel extensively across NSW will be required to deliver or coordinate the delivery of targeted training as well as respond to their designated region’s advocacy and communications needs.
