EOI: Pirru Thangkuray Project Officers – Batemans Bay, Mount Druitt & Tuggerah Lakes

Project Officer – PIRRU THANGKURAY
Location: Bateman’s Bay

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG Inc.) is seeking expressions of interest for a Project Officer to join the Pirru Thangkuray (PT) team, with the aim to meet the Premiers Priority to Increase the proportion of Aboriginal students attaining year 12 by 50% by 2023, while maintaining their cultural identity.

Type of Employment: Full time – 35 hours per week
Annual Salary: $72,800 Gross plus Superannuation

Position criteria:

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality
  • A paid Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check (Probity)
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Skills to engage and work across a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to facilitate and deliver Cultural Engagement programs
  • Knowledge of Local Aboriginal Communities, individuals and organisations
  • Ability to deliver goal setting strategies
  • Understanding of current education policies and practices focusing on working with Aboriginal students in High School
  • Understanding and knowledge of community, government and non-government service providers and support programs

The successful applicant will work across a number of targeted schools within the South Coast Network. The Project Officer will be an employee of the NSW AECG Inc. and will work in collaboration with the Pirru Thangkuray Cultural Engagement and Goal Setting Team.

CAPO Positions Available – Community Engagement Facilitator & Senior Research Officer

The NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO), is a coalition of peak Aboriginal community-controlled organisations in NSW. The NSW CAPO provides a strong, coordinated, and united voice to address Aboriginal rights, including in the areas of health, education, housing and employment, amongst other sectors. NSW CAPO, through the national Coalition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peaks, is a signatory to the National Agreement and is working in partnership with the NSW Government on its implementation in NSW.

Update Regarding NSW AECG Inc. Leadership Team

To all of our members,

We have the great pleasure of announcing the following changes in the NSW AECG Inc. leadership team:

▪️ Mr. Leigh Ridgeway has been appointed as Interim President until the next AGM.

▪️ Ms. Elizabeth Majoros will take up the position of R/Vice President.

▪️ Ms. Anne Dennis has joined the AMC to fill the casual vacancy

The Association Management team looks forward to working more closely with our Local and Regional AECGs, working together supporting of all of our Aboriginal young people and their communities across NSW.
