Program Lead positions are available in Campbelltown NSW at Airds High School. Click below to apply for more information.As a Program Lead you will: Mentor and support First Nation students aged between 12-18yrs, including facilitating and presenting workshops, and providing in-class tutoring and outside class assistance; Support students through cultural and physical education activities, life skills and school engagement activities, excursions and community engagement; Prepare lesson plans and coordinates resources for program delivery, and collect data about the student outcomes for reporting purposes; Work in a team within schools; and from time to time work weekends and overnight to run residential programs and camps.

My Future, My Culture, My Way is a new campaign supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their HSC. It recognises that different supports and connection to culture may help them through the challenging HSC journey.The NSW Department of Education, NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) and the Premier’s Implementation Unit have co-designed My Future, My Culture, My Way.It’s part of the NSW Premier’s Priority to increase the proportion of Aboriginal students attaining Year 12 by 50%, while maintaining their cultural identity.We need your help to share the campaign so we can reach this ambitious target.As an important and influential voice in your community, we’re asking you to share messages about the HSC and the campaign with parents, carers and others who support students in your community.Everything you do to support My Future, My Culture, My Way goes towards connecting students with culture, encouraging pride in their identity, and helping them to achieve academically.

An exciting job opportunity of People Lead (Recruitment & Learning) is available at the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA).

The People Lead (Recruitment and Learning) supports our Managers across the organisation with recruitment, onboarding, induction, learning and development, performance management and team wellbeing. The role also supports the Operations Director in providing other HR functions.

The ideal applicant will be degree-qualified, have experience in providing recruitment and generalist HR services, be an excellent communicator, and be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background or have experience working with First Nations peoples.

If you’re eager to make an impact with NASCA and in the Australian community – fulltime or part time (minimum 3 days equivalent).

NSW CAPO Closing the Gap Community Consultations

NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) is hosting 34 free community engagement sessions in a town near you. CAPO again needs your input and wants to yarn with you about what is happening in your community.

Engagement sessions will be occurring from Monday 28 February – 31 March 2022 and go into more detail about how previous consultations have developed initiatives that will make a better future for our mob.

However, we don’t what to just end there! We need to hear your voice to develop future initiatives and make changes driven by you for your community.

EOI for Language Project Officer: Dunghutti

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG) is seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) for an Aboriginal Language and Culture Nest Project Officer for the Dunghutti Satellite Language and Culture Nest.

The Project Officer position will work on projects that will progress teaching and learning across the Nest. The position will be based in the AECG Office in Kempsey.

Essential requirements for the position

  • Hold a paid Working with Children’s Check Clearance.
  • National Criminal Check (Probity) or the willingness to complete the check.
  • Fully COVID vaccination.
  • Knowledge of the NESA Aboriginal Languages K-10 syllabus
  • Experience in developing scope and sequence of Aboriginal Languages

Requirements for the position

  • Certificates I, II and III (optional) in Dunghutti
  • Acknowledged within community as a speaker and knowledge holder of the local Language.
  • Ability to further develop knowledge of Dunghutti Language and Culture.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Skills in working with children from preschool to secondary.
  • Skills in technology to support the teaching of Aboriginal Language Programs. Or the willingness to learn new skills to develop resources in Language.

 Suitable applicants will have a range of IT, communication and administrative skills. Illustration and design skills will also be looked upon favourably.

The successful applicant will be an employee of the NSW AECG Inc. and have endorsement from the local Aboriginal Language Reference Group or: their Local Aboriginal Language Council.

The AECG Project Officer will work in collaboration with, the AECG Incs Manager Aboriginal Languages and Culture Nest, the Aboriginal Language Educator and the NSW DoE Aboriginal Languages and Culture Officer and the local reference groups or Language Councils.

Hours per week: The successful applicant will be employed part time – 35 hours per week and paid between $45 per hour. The successful applicant will be given a fixed term contract.
