Expressions of Interest – Pirru Thangkuray Project Officer (South Coast)

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG) is seeking expressions of interest for a Project Officer to join the Pirru Thangkuray team, with the aim to meet the Premiers Priority: to Increase the proportion of Aboriginal students attaining year 12 by 50% by 2023, while maintaining their cultural identity.

Type of Employment: Full time – 35 hours per week Annual Salary: $72,800 Gross plus Superannuation

 

 

 

The successful applicant will work across a targeted number of schools within the South Coast, Batemans Bay Network. The Project Officer will be an employee of the NSW AECG INC. and will work in collaboration with the Pirru Thangkuray (Dream Strong) Cultural Engagement and Goal Setting Team Note: NSW AECG Inc. considers that being Aboriginal is a genuine occupational qualification under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Positions Available – Paakantji Project Officer

 

 

The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG) is seeking applications for an Aboriginal Language and Culture Nest Project Officer for the Paakantji Language and Culture Nest

 

 

 

The Project Officer position will work on projects that will progress teaching and learning across the Nest. The position will be based in the AECG Office in Broken Hill, or negotiation for other locations within the NEST footprint.
The successful applicant will be an employee of the NSW AECG Inc. and have endorsement from the local Aboriginal Language Reference Group or: their Local Aboriginal Language Council. 

The AECG Project Officer will work in collaboration with, the AECG Incs Manager Aboriginal Languages and Culture Nest, the Paakantji Language Educators and the NSW DoE Aboriginal Languages and Culture Officer and the local reference groups or Language Councils.
Hours per week: The successful applicant will be employed part time – 35 hours per week and paid at a rate of $45 per hour. The successful applicant will be given a fixed term contract.

Position: Aboriginal Culture Educator
Location: Stanmore, (Preferred) Sydney NSW 2048– or by negotiation
Salary: Remuneration package valued up to $100,000.00 per annum based on demonstrated and proven experience. Includes employer’s contribution to superannuation.
Employment: A two-year contract will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsible to the NSW AECG’s President to design and deliver specialised cultural education and
professional development programs and provide strategic support to the NSW AECGs Aboriginal
Language and Culture Nests and provide cultural advisory services in support of the NSW AECG’s
Cultural advocacy platforms and the Connecting to Country Program.
The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. is a non-profit Aboriginal organisation that
provides advice on all matters relevant to education and training with the mandate that this advice
represents the Aboriginal community viewpoint.
The NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. promotes respect, empowerment and self determination and believes the process of collaborative consultation is integral to equal partnership

POSITION CRITERIA: (ESSENTIAL)
• Aboriginality: this is an identified position under Section 14 (d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
• Have sound knowledge of the NSW AECG, it’s governance structures and core objectives.
• Sound knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal education and training within
Aboriginal communities.
• Demonstrated understanding of the NSW AECG Cultural Education programs
• Demonstrated time management and organisational skills with experience meeting
tight deadlines and reporting requirements
• Experience in working across a diverse range of Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal community
groups and organisations.
• High level Information Technology, oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated negotiation, liaison, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated and proven facilitation skills
• Ability to monitor budgets.
• Full COVID vaccinations
• NSW Driver’s License and ability to travel within NSW and interstate as required
• A current NSW Working with Children Check clearance for paid
employment & National Criminal History Check or willingness to obtain.

Position Available: Executive Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Executive Officer is responsible for the oversight and evaluation of policies and programs across all of the
NSW AECGs Inc. education and training portfolios and responsible for providing high-level executive
management and strategic advice to the NSW AECG Inc. and to the NSW AECG Secretariat Staff.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Aboriginality.
• Sound knowledge of the NSW AECG, it’s governance structures and core objectives.
• Sound knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal education and training within Aboriginal communities.
• Demonstrated experience working with and achieving outcomes for NSW Aboriginal communities.
• Demonstrated expertise in policy/program development and evaluation.
• Experience in the development of reports, discussion papers, advice and recommendations.
• Understanding of the Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO) and Closing the Gap
• High level Information Technology, oral and written communication skills.
• Negotiation, liaison and interpersonal skills.
• Supervisory experience.
• Ability to monitor budgets.
• Full COVID vaccinations
• NSW Drivers License and ability to travel within NSW and interstate as required
• A valid and current Working with Children Check and National Probity Police Check
